Last July 21, 2017, I was very fortunate to be invited to the Grand Opening and try the facilities of Best Western Bendix Hotel! Indeed, if you’re looking for a hotel nearby Manila just to get away from the hassle and bustle of city life, going north is the best way to go.

Following its hotels in the city of Manila, Makati, Cebu City, Boracay, Subic, and Palawan, Best Western International opens the newest addition to its Philippine line-up: BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel. The newest accommodation to rise in Pampanga gives business and leisure travelers a lodging option that’s unique and superior to other accommodation providers in the area. Pampanga has an array of features that make it one of the must-see places in the province.

And what makes BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel different from the other accommodations in the area? It is the first hotel in the province to utilize sustainable practices. In fact, with such initiatives, the City of San Fernando has recognized it as the first “green hotel” in Pampanga.

Smart executives will find the hotel a strategic hub when doing business in Central Luzon, while weekenders will appreciate how it serves as an ideal jumping-off point to the many historical and recreational attractions of Pampanga and neighboring areas. But beyond these, BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel offers more to travelers—a stay experience that goes beyond comfort and value for money.

As for myself, it was my first time to see a huge or big bed that can accommodate 5 to 6 persons! And I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

The first “green hotel” in Pampanga
BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel in the City of San Fernando is the first accommodation in Pampanga to use environment-friendly systems and practices. Reducing carbon footprint is a conscious choice made by its developers due to the challenges brought about by climate change.

Among the green initiatives of the hotel include the following:
Installing low-emissivity glass window panels to maintain comfortable temperature and improve energy efficiency in the rooms
Using low-flow plumbing fixturesto help conserve water
Recycling waste water for sustainable uses such as hydroponic gardening

The first hotel to receive an investment incentive from the provincial government
The City of San Fernando commits to giving tax incentives to businesses that adhere to producing and developing renewable sources of energy, and generating income and employment to its constituents. As the first Pampanga hotel to observe sustainable and eco-friendly practices, BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel was among the pioneer recipients of this incentive in 2016.

The first BEST WESTERN hotel in Pampanga
BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel is signed under Best Western Hotels & Resorts, an award-winning global chain with several brands across over 100 countries and territories. The property is the latest Best Western hotel in the Philippines, following those located in the city of Manila, Makati, Cebu City, Boracay, Subic, and Palawan.

Under the renowned hotel brand, BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel commits to constantly delivering superior customer service, exceptional value, and first-class amenities to its guests.

The first hotel venture of Hilcres Consolidated Corporation
Prior to developing BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel, Hilcres established a name for itself as the first and leading tile provider in Pampanga. This enterprise of the Patawaran family, led by its matriarch and president Bernardita, has been committed to “Building Dreams Together” with its stakeholders, offering premium construction materials to various contractors and suppliers since 1978.

With this promise taken to heart and mind, the second-generation Patawarans—siblings Dixie, Joanna, and Rion—took the company to new heights, diversifying into the property management sector in 2012. BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel is their first foray into the hotel and lodging industry.

Beyond providing comfort and convenience to business and leisure guests, this hotel in San Fernando, Pampanga utilizes environment-friendly and sustainable practices that reduce carbon footprint. In fact, with such initiatives, the City of San Fernando has recognized it as the first “green hotel” in Pampanga.

a) Low-emissivity glass windows
BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel uses low-emissivity glass window panels throughout the hotel. The low-emissivity coatings on its windows minimize the amount of ultraviolet and infrared light passing through the glass without compromising the amount of visible light. This means that the interiors are well-lit and come at comfortable temperatures, so guests use less artificial indoor lights and cooling facilities that can contribute to one’s carbon footprint.

b) Low-flow water fixtures
For the bathrooms, the hotel uses low-flow fixtures that conserve water. The sink faucets, shower heads, and toilets use high-pressure technique to produce a strong flow with less water per minute. Not only do low-flow water fixtures reduce operational costs; they also lessen carbon dioxide emissions used in facilities that pump and treat water.

c) Waste water recycling
Besides better water consumption management, BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel also reuses its waste water through harvesting technologies. Waste water is recycled for irrigation and hydroponic gardening.

d) Non-refillable cartridge dispensers
The bathrooms also do away with small plastic bottles for shampoo and lotion and instead use non-refillable cartridge dispensers. Compared to regular dispensers that may be unhygienic and need continuous cleaning, the hermetically sealed replaceable cartridges with integrated valves require no maintenance at all. And because these cartridges can be recycled, there will be much fewer bottles thrown as waste.

e) Biodegradable materials for vanity kits and shower cap packaging
The packaging for the dental, shaving, and bath kits are made from materials that are biodegradable in landfill conditions. The use of such wrapping is friendly to the environment in the long term.

Here are five reasons why BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel is worth visiting:

Smart executives will find the hotel a strategic hub while doing business in Central Luzon. Weekend warriors, meanwhile, will appreciate how it serves as a jumping point to Pampanga’s attractionslike Sky Ranch in San Fernando, Decawake Cable Park in Angeles, The Sandbox in Porac, and Zoocobia Fun Zoo in Clark Freeport.

2. Rooms

BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel has a total of 46 rooms, all adhering to the high standards of the Best Western International brand. The floor areas are spacious, ranging from 25 to 28 square meters. All rooms are furnished with quality amenities like beds with pocket spring mattresses, LED cable TV, mini-refrigerator, and coffee and tea amenities. The private bathroom boasts a shower with non-refillable cartridge dispensers. An executive desk and high-speed internet connectivity are provided to ensure efficiency when work needs to be done.

3. The Ballroom
The Giant Lantern Ballroom at the hotel’s top floor serves as a grand venue for occasions like weddings, conferences, and parties. With a floor area of 280 square meters, it can seat up to 300 guests. The ballroom has breakout spaces ranging from 70 to 103 square meters, allowing up to three small events to occur simultaneously.

4. Where’s Marcel
Media with the Chief Executive Officer of Hilcres Property Management Corp., Rion Patawaran
Melbourne’s specialty coffee arrives in Pampanga! And BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel is the location of its first branch outside Metro Manila. Found at the hotel’s ground floor, guests can easily get their caffeine fix any time of the day. Where’s Marcel also serves a variety of filling savory and sweet food items that one can grab during mealtimes or for snacks.

5. Sustainable Practices
BEST WESTERN Bendix Hotel goes beyond offering comfort and convenience. At the core of the brand is sustainability and care for the environment. To fulfill this, the hotel observes green practices such as the use of low-emissivity double glazed window panels, low-flow water fixtures, and biodegradable packaging for bath and vanity kits. As the first accommodation in Pampanga committed to reducing carbon footprint, it has been awarded an investment incentive by the City of San Fernando and is touted as the first “green hotel” in the province.
